Chapter 8
An hour later, the party was dying down. Multiple guests had already left and gone home, some guests have broken down into small groups, and others have begun to show signs of sleepiness. In the distance, the live band began playing a soft tune, and slowly, couples surrounded the area, holding hands and sharing one final dance before the party was over.
To the side, Chris and Erin were leaning against a wall, watching the other couples dance, but they couldn’t hide the obvious jealousy in their eyes. Erin let out a quick sigh, her eyes focusing on the drink in her hand, but she didn’t feel like drinking. Instead, she pointlessly swirled the drink around, her eyes glued to the dance floor filled with people who love one another.
“What’s wrong?” Chris asked, leaning forward, his voice was barely a whisper as he kept his eyes on the guests slowly dancing with their loved ones.
“I think you know what’s wrong…” E
