"I want us to have a family," I said. "And I’m not trying to shirk making a decision by saying I’m good whenever you are. This isn’t some way of pushing it onto you. I just want you to know I’m mindful of how emotional this topic is."
"Thank you," she said. Her eyes were moist. "I think I need a little more time. It is emotional. But I don’t want to wait too long because, if we do, I think it kind of grows in my head and makes it a bigger issue than it needs to be."
"I would throw you down on this table and knock you up right now," I said. "That’s how bad I want a family with you."
Kat laughed. It was a needed breath of fresh air to the heavy moment that had passed over us. But I turned serious again.
"It’s going to happen," I added. "I feel it more powerfully than I’ve ever felt anything else in my whole life. Except one thing."
