Chapter 107. Meaningful Signals

"Call me whenever you need someone to talk to," Megan stated as she and Andrew walked into the main door.

Michelle swallowed hard before she offered Megan a thin smile. Her best friend patted her arm.

"You’re going to be fine, brave girl," Megan added.

She tilted her chin up and nodded. "Thank you, Megan."

The couple had already bid their goodbyes to Ethan and his parents. Closing the door, the laughter from the living room echoed in Michelle’s direction. It was the laughter of Ethan’s parents, who were so happy to spend some time with Marsha.

Anger buzzed through her. She couldn’t figure out how Selene could laugh that way knowing that she had wronged her in the past; how she was able to face Marsha with her smiling face without getting reminded of how she insulted her mother; how she was able to sit comfortably in the living room without getting awkward... Michelle was quite amazed by Ethan’s mother’s thick face, yet she couldn’t say anything about it
