Brielle POV

“Does he seem nice? Is he gentle with you?” Madeline asked her, abruptly changing the subject of their conversation, and Brielle immediately felt uneasy.

Madeline had become incredibly close to her former enemy in the last few days. For someone who hated the public, always wanting to be her shy, recluse self, Madeline was incredibly pushing her boundaries.

Brielle knew they both liked being able to talk around each other freely; it wasn’t about the questions and answers or how much information they shared. No, it was about how at ease she was with her thoughts, and now this person was trying to push them out with every word she said.

She simply didn’t want to talk, but Madeline had other ideas. When she tried to be, the girl could be pretty persistent.

They were now in the busy hallway, and Madeline had her hands tightly wrapped around her wrist as they pranced around.
