Chapter 166
Layla’s POV
I stepped out of the taxi as it came to a stop right in front of a restaurant. Clutching my purse tightly in my hand, I looked up at the restaurant’s building, then took a sharp breath and walked toward the front door.
As soon as I stepped in, I scanned the whole area for Ken. It wasn’t easy to spot him amongst the number of people seated there, but I soon found him in the corner.
He didn’t see me at first—he was staring out the window on his side of the booth. He was dressed in a red top and jeans. His shoulders were slightly hunched, and there was a quiet stillness about him, like he was lost in his thoughts. It made my chest tighten unexpectedly.
I quickly hurried over, and he looked at me as soon as he sensed my presence, throwing me one of his bright smiles.
