Chapter 335
Layla’s POV
The sterile hospital smell was replaced by something darker…something damp and metallic. The air grew colder, and I could feel the prickling chill against my skin.
“W-where… Are you… taking me?” I managed to asked, my voice weak and trembling.
The man didn’t answer at first. His silence was deafening, the only sound being the rhythmic squeak of the bed and my own shallow breathing.
Finally, he chuckled…a low, menacing sound that sent shivers down my spine. “Somewhere no one will find you,” he said.
Fear gripped me, stronger than the drug coursing through my system. I tried to move, to push myself up, but my arms refused to obey.
“Why?” I whispered, the word barely audible.
“Because, darling,” he replied, his voice dripping with mockery, “you’re more useful to us gone than alive and safe.”
