Layla’s POV
“Jason, I’m fine,” I say, trying to calm him. “I just wanted to make us some breakfast.”
His eyes narrow, and I can see the familiar tension in his posture. “I’ve told you before, Layla,” he says, his voice rising slightly. “You’re not supposed to be in the kitchen. You shouldn’t be doing anything that could harm you or the baby. Why can’t you just listen to me for once?”
I feel a pang of frustration in my chest. I know he’s just trying to protect me, but it’s hard to feel like I’m being treated like I can’t make my own decisions. I’m not helpless. I’m not fragile. But Jason doesn’t see it that way.
I sigh, walking over to him. “Jason, please don’t get upset. I’m not doing anything that will hurt me or the baby. I just wanted to make us breakfast. It’s a small thing, really.”
