Maddy’s POV

“It’s real, Layla. You’re not replacing anyone. Jason isn’t Logan, and he doesn’t want to be. He just wants to be there for you, to build a life with you and the baby. Give him a chance. Give yourself a chance to be happy again.”

Layla let out a shaky breath, her other hand moving to rest on her belly. “You really think I can love him?”

“I know you can,” I said firmly. “And honestly, I think you already do, even if you’re too scared to admit it. Love doesn’t always come in the way we expect it to. Sometimes, it sneaks up on us when we least expect it.”

She smiled faintly.

Maddy’s words hung in the air, lingering in my mind as I sat there, trying to gather my thoughts. 

She was right about so many things, but admitting that to myself felt like betraying the emotions I had carried for so long. 

My heart had been tied to Logan for
