Jason’s POV
“I’m right here,” I said, trailing behind as the nurses wheeled her toward the entrance.
Her hand reached out for me, and I grabbed it, walking alongside her as she was rushed inside.
“Sir, you’ll need to wait here,” one of the nurses said as they approached the double doors leading to the delivery ward.
I hesitated, my hand still gripping hers.
“It’s okay,” Layla whispered, her eyes meeting mine.
I nodded, reluctantly letting go as they pushed her through the doors.
As the doors swung shut, I stood there, my hands clenched into fists at my sides. My heart was racing, my mind spinning.
This wasn’t just about her anymore. This was about the life she was bringing into the world.
And for the first time in a long time, I felt truly helpless.
I couldn’t sit still. The stark white walls of the hospital waiting room felt like they were closing in on me, suffocating me with every passing second.
