Layla’s POV

As I lay on the hospital bed, exhaustion still heavy in my limbs, I couldn’t help but let my mind wander to the events of the past few hours. It all felt so real, like I was caught in a dream that was too perfect to be real. 

My body ached, a dull reminder of the struggle I had endured, but none of it mattered now. The only thing that mattered was the tiny miracle in my arms.

The soft sound of Jason’s voice pulled me out of my thoughts. He was sitting beside me, holding our son with such tenderness that it made my chest tighten.

“Did you call Maddie?” I asked, my voice breaking the quiet.

Jason looked up, his eyes meeting mine. There was a softness in them, a warmth I wasn’t used to seeing. “Yeah, I called her. She’s on her way.”

A wave of relief washed over me. Maddie had always been there for me, through every high and low. I couldn’t wait for her to meet my baby, to share this joy with her.
