Chapter 510
Jason’s POV
The logical part of my brain tried to reason with me. Complications happened in childbirth sometimes…it didn’t necessarily mean the worst. But logic had no place here.
All I could think about was Layla, lying on that operating table, and the baby…our baby.
I started pacing again, my movements frantic now. My hands trembled as I ran them through my hair, tugging at the strands as if the pain would snap me out of this spiraling panic.
“Come on, Layla,” I whispered, my voice shaky. “You’re strong. You can handle this. You’ve got to handle this.”
But the fear was clawing at me, relentless and suffocating. What if she couldn’t? What if something went wrong? What if…
No. I couldn’t let myself go there. Not yet.
I glanced at the doors again, half-expecting someone to come out and tell me what was happening. But no one did.
