Jason’s POV

Layla laughed, shaking her head. "Yes, ma’am."

I couldn’t help but chuckle, grateful for Maddie’s ability to lighten the mood. "Alright, I’ll go grab some drinks," I said, straightening up, as I had forgotten to get some drinks. "Any special requests?"

"Surprise me," Layla said with a smile.

As I left the room, I couldn’t help but glance back one last time. Layla was still smiling, her attention focused on the baby in her arms, and Maddie was fussing over them both. 

It was a scene I never thought I’d be part of, but now that I was, I wasn’t sure I ever wanted to leave.
