“You’re doing great, Layla,” the doctor said as he jotted down notes on his clipboard. “Now, let’s check your sight with some reading material.” He handed her a laminated card with printed letters, starting with large fonts and gradually getting smaller.
Layla read them out loud, her voice steady.
When the tests were finally over, Doctor Thompson leaned back, looking both satisfied and impressed.
“Well, Layla, I have good news. Your eyesight has fully recovered. The bandages did their job, and there’s no sign of lasting damage.”
“That’s great to hear,” I said, unable to hide my smile.
“However,” the doctor continued, his tone growing serious, “there’s still the matter of her memory. While her physical recovery is remarkable, regaining her memories will take time. It could be weeks, months, or even years. There’s no way to predict it.”
