Jason’s POV

I decided it was time to get Layla out of the house for a while, to give her a change of scenery. 

She had been cooped up for too long, and I thought an ice cream outing would be the perfect way to brighten her day.

I knocked on her door, feeling an odd sense of excitement. "Layla, are you up?"

Her soft voice answered from the other side. "Yes, come in."

When I entered, she was seated by the window, the sunlight catching the strands of her hair. She looked peaceful, yet there was a curiosity in her expression as she turned toward me.

"I was thinking," I began, leaning against the doorframe, "how about we go out for some ice cream today? It’s a beautiful day, and I figured you could use some fresh air."
