Once we pulled into the driveway, I parked the car and turned to her. "Layla, how do you feel about picnics?"
She looked at me, her expression curious. "Picnics? I don’t know... I mean, I don’t remember ever going on one, but it sounds nice."
"Perfect," I said, grinning. "We’re having one this afternoon. There’s this peaceful spot I know, not too far from here. It’s quiet, surrounded by nature, and the weather’s perfect for it."
Her face lit up, though there was a hint of hesitation.
"Are you sure? I mean, I don’t want to trouble you."
"Trouble me?" I asked, feigning offense. "Layla, spending time with you is never trouble. Now, go get dressed. Wear something comfortable, and maybe grab a light sweater in case it gets chilly."
She laughed softly, shaking her head as she opened the car door.
"Alright, Mr. Picnic Planner. I’ll see you in a bit."
