Isabella’s POV
The sterile smell of antiseptics and the soft hum of machines filled the air, but I blocked it all out. I had a mission, and I couldn’t let anything distract me.
I approached the reception desk, flashing a polite smile at the nurse behind it. She looked up at me, her expression neutral but slightly curious.
"Good afternoon," I began, my voice steady. "I’m here to inquire about a patient…Miss Layla."
The nurse tilted her head, her brow furrowing slightly. "And you are?"
"I’m a close friend of hers," I lied smoothly, keeping my tone light. "I just heard about her accident and wanted to check on her. I know it’s been some time, but I’ve been out of town."
The nurse nodded, her face softening.
"I see. Well, I’m sorry to inform you, but Miss Layla passed away recently."
