Jason’s POV
Layla still had a lot of walls up, and I didn’t expect them to come down so easily. But damn it, she was letting me in, even if just a little.

The sound of little footsteps pulled me out of my thoughts.

I turned to see Little Jason standing near the couch, rubbing his sleepy eyes. His curls were a mess from his nap, and his tiny hands clutched his favorite stuffed bunny.
I softened immediately. “What’s wrong, buddy?”
He climbed onto the couch, snuggling into my side. “Had a bad dream.”
I wrapped an arm around him. “You wanna talk about it?”
He shook his head against my chest, his voice muffled. “No. Just wanna stay here.”
