Layla’s POV
After everything that has happened, the house didn’t feel the same anymore because we became more security conscious.
The walls still held the laughter from Little Jason’s birthday morning, but it was muffled now…buried under the weight of fear and the terror of almost losing him.
Even though Logan brought our son back safe, I couldn’t sleep that night.
I sat in his room, watching him breathe as he clutched his stuffed shark, completely unaware of how close he had come to being lost forever.
His tiny hand curled around my pinky in his sleep, and I stayed there for hours, as we both needed no one to tell us that little Jason was really enjoying himself.
