Chapter 996
Layla’s POV
The morning sun was starting to shine now brightly through the sheer curtains, and the scent of pancakes drifted through the house.
It was Little Jason’s sixth birthday, and he had been counting down the days with the kind of excitement only a child could sustain.
I stood in the kitchen in my robe, flipping pancakes shaped like dinosaurs while Logan helped our son blow up balloons in the living room.
The sound of their laughter reached me like music.
“Mommy! Daddy made the T-Rex fart!” Little Jason yelled, completely scandalized and delighted.
I rolled my eyes and smiled. “Logan!”
“What? The T-Rex had too much cake last night!” Logan shouted back, laughter thick in his voice.
This was what I lived for. Not the perfect dresses or the glamorous wedding photos…this. This everyday joy. The home we’d built, and the love we poured into it like it was our only job.
