Chapter 4
Thama works hard and always looks behind her back as the CEO of the world's largest empire and a woman.
She must ensure that everything is completed on time and that the company does not lose money every day, but her personal life is constantly reported in the city's newspapers.
The life she has been accustomed to from a young age
It's as if people can't wait to mock her for marrying a man who is much older than her and who is uninterested in women.
People are more interested in seeing her family's apple disgrace herself than in her happiness. The news and rumors don't bother her, but she understands that people will constantly speak about them, and she won't let them affect her.
She hasn't seen her uncles in weeks; it's as if they stopped visiting her after the Luciano dinner, which is excellent for her mother, who is usually arguing with them.
They don't see eye to eye with her mother; they have never liked each other for a long time now.
She's attempted to talk to her mother, but she knows Charles is the most difficult of the two uncles, and confronting his negative side is something her mother can't handle. Only a few days remain until her big day, and out of nowhere, a notice appears on her phone, which she dismisses and returns to her job.
Her secretary walks into her office, perplexed, and discovers she hasn't picked up her phone. "What's the matter with you?" She jokes with her face straight, and the secretary laughs.
"Whatever you see on the internet is propaganda, and it's the enemy's doing," she explains as she hands her documents over. She becomes perplexed by her words and decides to consult her phone.
She's back on the internet with the caption, "She prefers them older so she can manage them." The words themselves aren't frightening; it's the image accompanying the phrase that has her concerned.
She is seen in bed with an elderly man, who is an old friend of her late father, James. She is aware that the photograph is phony and manipulated. But how would she clear her identity when her wedding is only three days away? She can only talk to the uncles, and Cirino is the perfect person to talk to right now.
She is the one assigned to work with the company's investigation crew, and if she makes the orders, they will come back to her.
Even though she is the CEO of the empire, her uncles have the most influence in the organization because she is just 25 years old.
Because the word is getting out and the photo is going viral, she decides to text her mother and ask her to locate someone who can take the photo down. Because of Thelma's clout, the photo was taken off after 10 minutes.
John Cannon phones the press and releases a statement, acting as if he is the one who took it down while also threatening the media.
"It won't be good for him if we find out who did this." And so on. He says, "We apologize to the people involved," and while he doesn't mention his niece at all in his address, he musters the fortitude to apologize to the old man and the Luciano family. She's made to look like a youngster once more.
The two brothers do not attempt to speak with her and instead constantly remind her of the wedding. The moment she comes out of her office to leave the building, she finds her employees gossiping about her. The majority of the workers have saved the picture, which they keep sharing in the company's group chats.
They put their phones away as soon as they noticed she was nearby. They apologize and make their way out to their respective offices. She doesn't know how to react to what has happened. She hopes her uncles will find the culprit soon and clear her name.
She makes her way back to her office and uses a private exit so that she doesn't run into the employees of the company. She leaves the firm and travels to a different resort for her bridal gown fitting.
Thelma has taken on the task of creating her daughter's wedding gown as professionally as she knows how. Her daughter may be marrying an older man, but that won't stop her from appearing like the princess she is.
She'll be on the front page of every newspaper in town. Thama cries when she walks into the room and sees the most beautiful garment she has ever seen.
Thelma recognizes that her daughter is grieving not only because of the dress but also because of everything she has been through in the weeks since the two brothers delivered the final reading of the will.
She realizes she was acting aggressively in front of everyone, but since they are the only people in the room, she is free to cry."Everything will be fine," Thelma assures her daughter."I know," she says as she embraces her mother.
She has no intention of trying on the outfit because she knows her mother is capable of doing so. Thelma summoned the investigator to the villa, instructing him to dig into the picture's origins.
According to the investigator's statement, the image came from somewhere large, and he couldn't uncover any additional information. It was enough for them to take it down, but people on the internet are still talking about it.
The Luciano family is responsible for the wedding, and she has not heard from them since the picture was produced. She received a message on her phone, which she checked and discovered was from an unknown number."Like father, like daughter," she says. The message was clear.
She had no idea what it meant."What does the painting have to do with my father?" she muses, but Thelma hears her."Can you tell me what it is?" She inquires, but she simply nods.
