Chapter 30
She was awakened by a loud thump next to the bed. She jumped, knocking a pitcher of water sitting on a table to the floor. Garrison was looking down at her with a barrel at his feet. “Must you be so loud?” She yawned while putting her hand to her heart. He scared her almost to death; it felt like her heart was going to jump from its cage. He saved her only to give her a heart attack.
“I didn’t mean to interrupt you, sleeping beauty, but this barrel is kinda heavy, and the men will be heading over for lunch soon. I don’t think you want them to see ya still laid up in the bed and that trail of spittle running down your chin,” he said, picking it back up.
She immediately reached for her chin, and when her hand came back dry, he chuckled. She rolled her eyes and got out the bed, taking care not to bump her injured arm. His teasing was so frustrating, but then it was so refreshing at the same time. He was like a water tap. Sometimes, he was cold, and sometimes he was hot, but
