Chapter 5. Make a Bet

Ivelle couldn't tell what he was thinking, so she nodded slightly and said yes.

People were sometimes very humble, humble for no reason. For her, it seemed that she has formed a habit, she would obey every request of Jordan even if her heart was extremely resistant.

When the car drove to the city, she thought Jordan would take her back to the villa. She didn't want him to take her directly to the hospital.

The smell of disinfectant spread in every corner of the hospital. Ivelle didn't like it, but she could only follow Jordan into Nicole's ward.

Nicole was in the infusion, she was sick and was lying on the plain white hospital bed. Her eyes were clear and shallow, she was looking soft and petite.

When she saw her coming in with Jordan, she looked at Ivelle coldly. It took her a long time to look at Jordan. She said, "I don't want to see her!"

It seemed that the delicate and lovely posture of Nicole was gone. She was a little colder and fuller of hatred.

Jordan walked up to her, picked her up half out of bed, rubbed his chin on her forehead, and said, "Let her take care of you for a few days."

Intimacy, doting, this scene stung her nerves.

Nicole wanted to say something else but for a moment, she looked up at Jordan, smiled, and said, "OK, I'll listen to you!"

The two of them would decide whether she would stay or not in just a word.

It was funny that she didn't say a word and completely listened to their arrangement.

Jordan was very busy. Although he didn't show up at his grandfather's funeral, he was an Astley after all. There were a lot of things that he had to go through. The Astley Family was now in his charge and he didn't have much time to stay in the hospital to accompany Nicole.

It seemed that she was the only one who can stay and take care of Nicole.

At 2: 00 in the morning, Nicole slept so much during the day that she could not fall asleep at night. There was no extra bed in the hospital, so she had to sit in the armchair beside the bed.

When she saw that Ivelle was not sleeping, Nicole looked at her and said, "Ivelle, you are too humble."

When Ivelle heard those words, she didn't know what to say for a moment. She looked down at the ring in her hand and after a long time, Ivelle looked at Nicole and said, "Isn't that what love is?"

She smiled and wondered why it took her a long time to say those words, "Are you tired?"

Ivelle shook their head, why would she be tired? She was in love.

"Could you get me a glass of water?" She opened her mouth, got up slightly, and leaned half back.

Ivelle nodded and got up to pour her water.

"There's no need to add cold water, it's better to have it hot!" When Nicole spoke, she was not able to hear much emotion.

Ivelle poured out the water, she handed it to her but she didn't get it, Nicole just looked at her and said, "I feel sorry for you and I don't blame you for the baby but I can't help but to put the blame and hate on you."

Ivelle didn't know what she meant by that but she just handed her the water and said, "Be careful!"

She took the cup and grabbed Ivelle. Instinctively, Ivelle wanted to withdraw her hand. She stared at her with black eyes and said, "Let's have a bet to see if he will be with you in the end."

Ivelle was stupefied. Nicole looked at her with a light look, "Dare you?"

She said nothing and poured the hot water down the back of her hand. It hurt her so much, it was like she was bitten by a thousand ants.

Although it was silent she was involved in this bet.

Nicole put down the water cup and said with an innocent look on her face, "Sorry, I didn't mean to. The water cup was too hot. I spilled it carelessly. Are you all right?"

That was a lie.

She took her hand back and shook her head in pain. "It's all right!"

Jordan, who was watching the scene in front of him, came in with low eyes and a cold voice. He gladly looked at Nicole. "Why don't you have a rest?"

For Nicole, Jordan appeared as if it was all of a sudden. She pulled him by the corner of his clothes, sat him by the bed, hugged him, and said, "I slept so much during the day that I couldn't sleep. What are you doing here?"

"I came to see you!" As he spoke, Jordan's black eyes looked at Ivelle and it fell on the back of my hand. He frowned slightly, "Go and deal with it!"

His voice was indifferent, she could not hear pity and concern.

Nicole held him with apology and guilt on her small face. She said, "It was my carelessness that scalded Sister Ivelle."

Jordan followed her long hair with a light look as if he had no intention of reproach.

It was as if she had been pushed to the cliff and her heartache was so painful that she was out of breath. She moved out of the ward slowly.

She knew from the beginning that she would lose this bet but she still had a glimmer of hope. Even if it was just a short sentence, it was enough to keep her going.

But in the end, she didn't even get a look of pity, not even sympathy.

In the corridor, she was blocked by a broad chest. She looked up and saw that Brad was looking at her slightly.

Ivelle didn't know why, so she just looked at him and said, "Dr. Silverman!"

He looked at her for a long time and suddenly said, "Does it hurt?"

Ivelle froze, her heart turned bitter, "Yes!" A tear the size of a bead fell on the ground, and the wind roared through the corridor. It made the already cold and lonely corridor even more empty.

Why did she turn a blind eye to the people she was with for two years?

When her hand was held up, she subconsciously wanted to take it back, but it was pulled more tightly.

"I'm a doctor!" Brad opened his mouth and the implication could not be rejected. Because he was a doctor, he saw that there was no reason for the patient to stand idly by.

Ivelle knew that he was not a nosy person but she was Jordan's wife.

After Brad entered the surgery room, he said a few words to a nurse, and then he looked at Ivelle and said, "Cooperate well."

Ivelle nodded, "Thank you!"

When Brad left, the nurse washed the back of her scalded hand and looked at several white blisters that were rising from the back of my hand. The nurse slightly twisted her eyebrow, "It may leave a scar in the future!"

"It is alright!" She would think of it as a lesson.

Because there were blisters, the nurse needed to poke the blisters to clean the abscess on the wound.

The nurse was afraid that she won't make it, the nurse said, "It's going to hurt. You have to put up with it."

"Hmm!"

This pain was not painful. The pain that pulls the nerves in her heart was called pain.

After the nurse took care of the wound, the nurse told her a few words. Ivelle was ready to go back to Nicole's ward. When she passed the stairwell, she heard a faint noise from the stairwell, and she was not able to stop herself from stopping there.

"The Don is gone. When are you going to divorce her?" Was that the voice of Brad?

"Her? Ivelle? " The man spoke in a low, cold voice. It was the very familiar voice of Jordan.

As she approached the entrance of the stairs, she vaguely saw Jordan leaning coldly against the railing. Brad leaned against the wall and a cigarette was sandwiched between his slender fingers, he was smoking non-stop.

He looked at Jordan and said calmly, "You know she didn't do anything, she just loves you."

Jordan looked up, glanced at him, and said coldly, "Since when did you start to care?"

When he heard this, Brad frowned and said, "You think too much. I am just reminding you so that you won't regret it later. No matter how deep someone's love is, there will be a day that the person would get tired of it."

"Oh!" Jordan sneered, "I never disdain for her love."

Ivelle didn't continue to listen to the latter words. She wishes she knew something in her heart. If she had to listen to others say it clearly, she would be ungrateful.
