Chapter 77

ISABELLA

The night grows dense, and my curiosity about Lorenzo's proposed destination grows like a wavering flame.

I'm in the bedroom of the apartment, reading another chapter of the book in my hands, focused on my own thoughts, when the sound of the door being opened echoes through the room. My heart races, anticipating Lorenzo's arrival. I quickly leave the room, expecting to see him, but to my surprise, it is Diego who enters, carrying something wrapped in a black plastic cover. He also holds a smaller box in his hands.

Diego, Lorenzo's best security guard, lifts his head to close the door, and I realize that there is tension in the air, a silent understanding between us. 

The last time we met, Diego was my ally, helping me escape, but now he's here, carrying something covered and a box, indicating that something is about to happen.
