Chapter 64. Whatever It Takes
Ever since that first day in the forest, the mage took Germaine back to the forest again, and again. Every day she went, she felt herself become stronger and more aware of her surroundings. She still had not come into any of the powers she was purported to have, and this made her impatient.
She blew out some hair tendrils in front of her eyes that had slipped away from the bun on the top of her head. "This isn't working, mage, I'm sick and tired of coming here every day and yet, nothing is happening."
It was the fifth day they were in the forest, almost a week of the mage trying to coerce her powers out of her, but nothing seemed to have worked. Everyday, he would surround runes of different sizes all around her as well as give some to her to hold. The mage would tell her to close her eyes and empty her mind of everything except to concentrate on her breathing. She would breathe in deeply through her nose and exhale through her mouth.
