Chapter 31
Being hidden away for hundreds of years makes a person forget what it's like to interact with other people, whether they're humans or vampires.
The lightning strike that occurred outdoors almost caused me to lose my vision for a split second. After keeping track of the time that passed between the thunder and the lightning, I realized that there was no need for concern. It is too far away to cause any harm to anyone in this area. Even though I am a monster, I try my best to protect innocent bystanders; after all, I was once in their position.
I let out a sigh and got up from my seat.
I got down on one knee and pushed the window open. I climbed out of the window by placing my foot on the ledge first. I was able to land on my feet with grace. As I felt the heavy rain pound my face, I leaned my head back and closed my eyes. B
