Chapter 60

Learning that Jericho went abroad without telling me was a shock. I couldn't believe that he would leave without even letting me know. I was hurt and confused about why he would do something like that.

Then, I got a letter from him saying that he was trying to stay in the country because of me, and yet, I pushed him to work overseas. I blamed myself for being insensitive at that time. However, he was wrong when he said that I pushed him to work abroad. I just reminded him about his plan when we talked before. I didn’t want to ruin his career.

He was young and had a lot of potential. He was bound to greatness, and staying with a single mom like me would just ruin his future. My first instinct was to reach out to him and try to understand what was going on.

I tried calling and texting him, but he didn't respond. It felt like a betrayal that he would leave without even saying goodbye. When I read his letter again, I found a footnote not to try calling him.
