Chapter 37. Not the Father

I closed my eyes, resting my head on the pillows. Xavier had been perfect for the last few months and even after the delivery of the babies. An adorable girl and boy. I smiled widely as the events before the delivery flooded my head. I had been filled with tantrums and numerous demands, but instead of expecting strict orders from Xavier, he had been nice, patient and a good listener to me. He even stayed several nights with me when I had false labor.

After the babies were delivered, as the nurse placed them in my hands, I couldn’t help but hold them tightly and smile. They were my bundle of joy and the best thing that had happened to me so far.

If only the guilt building in me would dissipate, though. The children were…sadly not his. I clutched my hands as I tried to push down the thoughts of what would happen if he discovered the truth.

“You can’t hide the truth from him, Aurora. One way or the other, he’s going to discover what you’re hiding.”
