Author’s POV

Jannie clapped as she completed a part of her assignment. She stuck out her tongue at Jay, who was still struggling with a figure. “That’s not right, Jay. Let me help you out.”

Jay shook his head, upset. “I don’t need your help. You stuck your tongue at me, didn’t you?”

“You would do the same thing. Mum! Jay is writing the wrong answer.” Jannie tugged Aurora’s shirt, making her gasp.

She had been thinking about Xavier and how long it had been since she stopped hoping he would return for them. She let out a low sigh and focused on Jannie who was studying her. The eyes were the same color as Xavier and sometimes, she wondered if he was watching them through the eyes of Jannie. It did sound creepy.

“Are you done with the assignment?” she asked, collecting Jannie’s book.

Jannie cocked her head, worried. “Mum, are you okay?”

“Yes, I am alright. You haven’t answered the second part of the questions. Don’t you understand it?”
