Chapter 17
Riley’s POV
“Turn this truck around,” I ordered, yanking at my seatbelt until it popped free. With one hand on the wheel and the other digging my nails into the back of Rowan’s seat, I leveled my most dire warning at Damien. “Turn the hell around or I swear I’ll kiss you again.”
Noah—pure fluff incarnate—barreled himself between me and Damien, hackles raised, lips curled in a surprisingly menacing little snarl. Honestly, I almost laughed. My heart threatened to do cartwheels at the thought that this teddy-bear-turned-scorching-hot-werewolf would protect Damien from my kisses. But I held it together. Mostly.
“I get to decide nothing about when I meet Human Noah’s parents,” I snapped, my voice inching higher than I’d planned. “I don’t even know him! And they’re gonna hate-watch this like it’s some freakin’ reality show: ‘Here comes his mail-order bride!’”
Damien sighed over Noah’s quiet growl. “No one thinks you’re a mail-order bride, Ry.”
