Chapter 64
Addy’s POV
“Yep.” I bobbed my head like a metronome. “From what I’ve gathered, he’s got zero interest in any of this,” I said, gesturing at my jiggling arms, my half-packed boxes, and the wolf who thought my couch was a personal spa.
Zade paused at the bottom of the stairs, brow furrowed. “That’s weird.” He turned and headed up again, his butt making gravity look optional. Rather than follow him (and risk drooling all over his designer jeans), I leaned back against the couch and scratched Damien’s wolf head. The fur was softer than I’d anticipated—practically pet-friendly.
Damien let out a low rumble. My heart tried to jump out of my chest. He was gorgeous as a beast, though not quite the fantasy hero I’d pictured. But as soon as Zade reappeared—empty-handed, still scowling—I felt oddly hopeful.
“He’s been having a rough time, but I wouldn’t have thought he’d go this far,” Zade murmured, grabbing a much-bigger box as if it were a cardboard teacup.
