Addy’s POV
The front door stood open, and Jared strolled in like he owned the place, tool bag swinging from one hand. His expression was neutral—no grin, no scowl—just a cool nod in my direction. I couldn’t decide if I appreciated the complete lack of unnecessary cheer or if I missed some warm welcome. Probably the former.
“How much shit do we have to build?” he asked, voice clipped.
I chewed the inside of my cheek. “A lot.”
He buried his hands in his pockets, shrugged, and then glanced over at Asher, who’d been hovering nearby. “Good. Asher needs to take his anger out on some screws today.” He patted Asher on his broad shoulder like he was comforting a toddler.
