Addy’s POV
I spent the rest of the day unpacking and reorganizing my life like it was a jigsaw puzzle I’d dropped in a blender. By some unfathomable miracle—probably divine intervention—I was left to my own devices. Riley, however, was not convinced I’d willingly skip graduation. She texted me six times in as many minutes. After the sixth “Are you sure you don’t want to go?!” I’d finally shot back, “I’d rather lick the underside of my car bumper than sit through another hour of speeches,” and that seemed to do the trick. Silence. Victory.
Folding the last T-shirt—only slightly warped by all that Insta-scrolling—I glanced at my phone. Graduation was in full swing somewhere out there. I did feel a twinge of guilt—as if ditching a ceremony I desperately never wanted to attend made me a bad human. But I’d also never been a fan of cap tosses or awkward tassel maneuvers.
