Rose’s POV

I sighed as she glanced around the woods. “Joe, this place is beautiful. I never knew the woods could be this calming, peaceful and feel like home. I honestly do prefer this place more than every other place I have been to.”

Joe grinned, “Nature has its way of healing and bringing out beauty, Rose. You just need to embrace it.” He handed her some berries, “Try these. They’re safe to eat.”

Taking a bite, I smiled, “They’re delicious! Thanks for coming, Joe. I didn’t know what I would have done without you. You always know when I truly need a companion. I appreciate it. You’re the best.”

As we walked deeper into the woods, I felt uneasy. Something was off, I could feel it in my bones. “Joe, do you sense that?” I asked, gripping the small dagger he had given me.

Joe nodded, “Something’s not right. We need to be cautious. In fact, let’s head back to the cave” I agreed, and we started to move quietly, trying not to disturb whatever that was
