“Uncle Anderson, what do you think those creatures want? Why are they spying on us?” I asked, looking curious and scared. I love it here and I didn’t want to leave.

Mr. Anderson sighed, he was still gazing at the captured bird. “These creatures, they’re ancient beings with their own motives. Some seek power, others control. At the same time mysterious. We’re just pawns in their game, my dear.”

Joe, widened his eyes, and chimed in, “But why would they be interested in us? What could they possibly gain from watching people in the woods? Did anyone send them?”

“Sometimes it’s not about what they gain, but what they fear of losing a loved one after they must’ve gone,” Mr. Anderson replied cryptically. “The woods have their own secrets, and those creatures want to stay ahead of whatever’s happening. We’re like intruders in their world. And they don’t like it. They would do anything to get everything out of their world. Wicked creatures.”
