The soldiers pushed past us, their eyes fixed straight ahead. They didn’t even slow down as they passed Rose, nearly knocking her off balance. She stumbled, her expression showing anger and pain.

“Stop!” she cried, her voice breaking. “Please, stop!” She kept on crying and pleading and it pains me to see her in this state.
