Rose’s POV

It was still dark when I crept down to the little room we both slept in.

My heart was pounding in my chest, both from nerves and excitement.

I had come up with a plan, and though it was risky, it was better than doing nothing.

I couldn’t wait until morning to tell her. I needed her help, and we had no time to waste.

There was a snore from the other side of the room.

“What is it, Rose?” she asked, rubbing her eyes. “Why are you waking me up in the middle of the night?”

“I’m sorry for waking you, but I’ve come up with a plan,” I said quickly, trying to hide the excitement in my voice. “I think I know how we can save the village and the people.”

Celine raised an eyebrow and sighed deeply. “A plan? Rose? How are you sure that it’s going to work and what makes this one any different?”

The thought of everything she had been through was starting to show, and it was breaking my heart to see her like this.

I couldn
