Chapter 492
Rose’s POV
The center of the village was already quiet as I stood there, my heart racing.
My hands were slightly trembling, but I held them together, trying to appear calm.
I had to play the part—confident, graceful, and, most importantly, convincing.
The sun was low in the sky, burning bright an orange glow over everything.
Villagers peeked through their windows, curious about what was going on, though none dared to come out.
I knew they were watching, waiting for something to happen.
Then I heard it—the distant sound of hooves pounding against the ground My stomach twisted into a knot, but I kept my face calm, staring straight ahead. The man was coming. He was close.
Moments later, the horse came into view.
The man rode in with such arrogance, his eyes scanning the village as if he owned every corner of it.
His posture on the horse was straight, and his expression cold, like someone used to getting his way.
