‘‘Sebastian, my favorite son-in-law!’’ He was greeted by Julio. ‘‘Why didn't you inform us that you're going to visit here today? I could have instructed the helpers to get additional food and cook it for you…’’

It came to my attention that my father took the initiative to speak while wearing a very animated expression on his face. It appeared as though he was unaware that I had been taken captive by his favorite daughter.

‘‘Where’s my sister?’’ I inquired, my sharp look cutting through him like a knife.

Jason, who had been helping me stand up straight, was replaced by Sebastian, and he took my arm and hooked it around his, causing me to freeze in my spot. I saw from my peripheral vision that Jason walked out of the house, leaving me with my husband.

‘‘Uh… your sister…?’’ He garbled his words. ‘‘She... she isn't feeling well… Yes! She’s not feeling very well right now, so she has gone to her room to rest for a while…’’
