Uncle Karl and I left the ward and went to sit on the bench in the lobby. I couldn't stop the tears from falling out of my eyes as he comforted me.
‘‘Celine…’’ Uncle Karl grabbed my hand, choking on his sobs as well. ‘‘Don’t cry… It makes me sad to see you in such distress, my dear...’’
‘‘But you’re crying, too…’’ I said, my voice shaking.
The sight of Tom's son sobbing over his father's lifeless body brought back memories of when my own mother passed away. And the realization that Julio had murdered my mother's parents caused me to cry even more loudly.
