Chapter 268. A Bet
Jake wrapped his arms around me in a bear hug, and I don't think I'd ever want to be out of his embrace. ‘‘Oh God…’’ His voice was still trembling, and it sounded as though he couldn't believe he could lose me at this very moment. ‘‘Tell me, you’re okay. Please…’’
‘‘I’m okay…’’ I said, even though every part of my body was still shaking.
He nodded, and kissed my forehead before he let go of me and left, as he walked upstairs. I had to grab the railing to keep standing, due to the continued weakness in my legs.
I shut my eyes, letting out a soft cry. Oh my god… I almost died.
‘‘Why the fuck did you do that?’’ Jake’s voice echoed, and that made me abruptly climb the stairs with my shaky legs while putting the pressure of my body on the railing for support. ‘‘Why, Oliver?!’’
