‘‘What are your intentions with regard to my daughter?’’ She asked Jake while completely ignoring me. ‘‘Do you intend to take him as your mistress?’’

‘‘No, I…’’

‘‘There is no future for the two of you, and even if you leave the woman who will soon become your wife, I won't let you have my daughter!’’ And she smacked his face once more, which prompted me to push her away; however, being the dramatic mother that she was, she pretended as though she was going to fall to the ground, but Jake was quick enough to catch her. ‘‘Don’t touch me!’’

‘‘Mom, please stop…!’’ I screamed, my face already covered with tears. ‘‘There’s no Jake and I. We’re not together!’’
