‘‘What exactly are you going on about?’’ Sebastian appeared perplexed, and then raised both of his eyebrows while gesturing for me to continue.

‘‘Even though you have seen Brylee for who she really is, you continue to act as though you don't care about anything...’’ I sighed, my hand stayed on his chest. ‘‘Are you attempting to show how much you care for her in this way, or are you up to something else?’’

The man's eyes became significantly darker in an instant. He raised my chin higher, and it appeared as though he wanted to press his lips against mine. ‘‘Go on…’’

‘‘Go on?’’ I laughed it off. ‘‘You mean to say that you want me to make an educated guess as to what your intentions are… right? I apologize, but this brain of mine is not exactly stimulating. I have no idea what Mr. Anderson's motivation is... What is it about the Lauren family that makes you feel compelled to keep playing your game, huh?’’

I pushed him away from me and reached into
