Mia’s gone to work. Yesterday, she expressed her displeasure at the fact that she had not seen her brother when she got home, and was shocked when Olivia told her that he was with my mother.

“What did Troy see in that old woman? Nica is a far better than her!” Mia was still fantasizing about the possibility that one day, her best friend would become her sister-in-law.

She didn’t even think of me. That bitch!

I called a taxi, and instructed the driver to take me to the Civil Affairs Bureau. The people who were waiting in line to pick up some paperwork were already forming a long queue.

“Reese…” I heard Troy’s voice coming from behind, and I whirled around to see him and my mom standing in close proximity to one another.

I raked my eyes over mom, and I couldn’t help but roll my eyes at her. She was dressed in a very flamboyant and sexy way. She didn’t look forty-five in that revealing red dress, paired with those silver stiletto heels.
