“Riza!” I called out, but she continued to flee and didn’t pay attention on me.
Oh my God! She heard what I said. I didn’t mean it. Oh, God!
For a brief moment, Riza stopped and glanced back, and I noticed the tears in her eyes, reflecting profound loneliness which made the air in my lungs suck out.
“Riza!” Enzo also called her name, his voice laced with panic, yet the little girl disregarded her uncle and hurried toward the door.
My entire body trembled as I stifled my sobs, my hand covering my mouth.
Enzo turned to me, his gaze piercing and I cried harder. “You hurt her…” he hissed before rushing out to chase Riza.
The anguish I had felt moments earlier during my argument with Enzo was nothing in comparison to the pain I experienced as I watched Riza leave. It felt as though my heart was being pierced by countless daggers.
