It was already lunchtime, and I found myself dining alone in the cafeteria, still awaiting the arrival of my friends. At that moment, a pair of familiar shoes appeared on the seat beside me, prompting me to glance up. Mr. Hendricks, whom I had encountered earlier, had taken a seat at my table, his gaze thankfully directed at the tray of food he held rather than at me.
What was he doing here? The cafeteria was filled with numerous empty tables. Why had he chosen to sit with me?
