Freya’s POV
She looks at me sadly, shaking her head slowly.
“I got so mad and made this huge, ugly scene and then, I walked away. He never came looking for me—never apologized or tried to make me understand that what I had seen was wrong… He just let me leave.”
“Wow, that’s terrible.”
“Yeah, it is. That’s how we broke up. It’s obvious he cheated and felt so guilty. That’s why he never tried to explain. Or maybe, he never really liked me that much to begin with.”
“Xena…” I coo.
I pull her into a tight hug, the tightest I can muster, patting on her back in a slow rhythm.
Even though it’s been a long time, I can tell from the tone in her voice that she was still hurting from it.
The memory alone must have haunted her. The fact that he never bothered to explain himself and never gave her closure must have torn her apart repeatedly.
He was like her own Silas, spinning webs around her that couldn’t be untangled.
