Chapter 22. Out of Reach

Lilly’s POV

The long hallway stretched before me, adrenaline coursing through my veins. I wasn’t sure where I was headed, but I needed to find an exit quickly.

As I rounded the first bend, a sense of relief washed over me. At least around this corner, Jacob and James wouldn’t be able to see me.

I hurried closer, slowing my pace as I reached the edge.

A staircase loomed below, and a smile crept onto my lips.

I was intentionally ignoring the elevators—just in case the brothers decided to use them.

I quickly descended the stairs, savoring my freedom with every step. My heart raced with excitement as I reached the last flight of stairs.

As I took my final step, I heard a commotion coming from one of the rooms. A door swung open, and Beta Zack stepped out, raising his hands in a defensive gesture.

“Now, Lex,” he said, taking a step back. “Calm the fuck down. I’m only following orders. This is nothing personal. You know me.”
