Lex’s POV
Did she really think so little of me? The thought gnawed at me, colder than I wanted to admit. I could feel the weight of her judgment pressing down on me, suffocating any hope I had. It was as if she had drawn a line in the sand, and I was left standing on the wrong side.
“You made her believe that,” Lotus chided, his voice echoing in my mind as we exited the restroom, the air still thick with the aftermath of chaos.
“They’re taking Sade to the infirmary,” Zack reported, a strange glimmer in his eyes—like he was savoring some private victory.
I raised a questioning brow, but he ignored it, his mind clearly elsewhere.
“He’s planning something,” Lotus murmured, suspicion lacing every word.
“Mmm,” I agreed, but let it go for now. There’d be time to interrogate Zack later; right now, the treaty signing needed my attention. The whole boardroom was waiting for us.
