Chapter 97. Burning Kisses
Lilly’s POV
I helped Lex to his feet, sparks erupting everywhere our skin touched. I had to bite my lip to keep from reacting to the sensation, afraid I’d lose control if I gave in to it for even a moment.
“Color has returned to his cheeks,” Asena observed quietly in my mind.
I saw it too, but worry gnawed at my insides. I had never seen an Alpha wolf double over like that, collapsing to his knees and losing his breath so completely.
In a heartbeat, I was at his side, checking for any sign of life. My own pulse stuttered in terror as I realized he had none—no rhythm beneath my fingers, no rise or fall of his chest, nothing. Lex had stopped breathing. The realization was utterly terrifying.
Panic surged through me. I couldn’t let him die, not now—not ever.
