Chapter 25. A Choice to Be Made
I slowly opened my eyes, and the first person I saw was my mother placing a wet cloth on my forehead. As soon as she noticed I was awake, her eyes widened with relief.
“She’s awake!” she exclaimed, and I could hear a woman’s voice nearby.
“Let me see her,” the woman said as she rushed to my bed. I realized she was a doctor when she checked my temperature.
“How are you feeling?” she asked.
“I am good, just a light headache,” I managed to croak out in response.
Confusion clouded my mind as I tried to piece together what had happened. “What happened?” I asked, my voice barely audible.
“You passed out, dear. It’s been three hours,” the doctor informed me calmly. All I remembered was stepping into the party and Lucas proposing. That was all I remembered before darkness took
